Rising junior booked with negligent homicide after shooting boyfriend

Tulane student Nicole Dukarm was charged with one count of negligent homicide on Thursday after accidentally shooting her boyfriend. The accident occurred in their home on the 4200 block of Walmsley Ave. around 1 p.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the New Orleans Police Department. 

Dukarm called 911 and said her boyfriend accidentally shot himself with his gun. During the course of the police investigation, she confessed that she had been playing with the gun and accidentally fired it, shooting her boyfriend in the face. 

Emergency medical services made attempts to resuscitate the unresponsive victim, but he was announced dead on the scene. 

Dukarm was booked into central lockup and charged with one count of negligent homicide.

According to the Tulane student directory, Dukarm is a rising junior from New York studying public health.
