Undergraduate Student Government Executive Cabinet campaigns begin

Undergraduate Student Government Executive Cabinet campaigns began Thursday. Elections will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at vote.tulane.edu.

The executive board consists of six elected position and four appointed positions. The elected positions, which constitute the executive cabinet, include President, Executive Vice President, Vice President for Student Life, Vice President for Student Organizations, Vice President for Finance and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The appointed positions of Chief of Internal Affairs, Parliamentarian, Secretary and Director of Communications will be selected later in the semester by the members of the executive cabinet.

The President chairs all USG Senate and cabinet meetings and serves as the chief representative of the undergraduate student body to the administration. 

This position’s duties also include chairing the Student Safety Committee, attending University Senate meetings and representing USG on university-wide task forces.

Executive Vice President

Junior Molly Lynch is running unopposed for Executive Vice President. To read her platform, click here.

This position oversees the funds of USG and keeps track of the minutes and attendance records from meetings. The individual also chairs the Awards and Elections and Constitution and Bylaw Review Committees and oversees the cabinet.

Vice President for Student Life

The individual elected is in charge of any initiative that affects student life outside the classroom, such as sustainability, health and wellness and housing and residential life.The Vice President for Student Life chairs the Student Life Committee and manages the Student Health Advisory Council and the Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Committee.

Vice President for Student Organizations

Sophomore Michael Schwartz is running unopposed for Vice President for Student Organizations. To read his platform, click here.

The individual elected maintains a relationship with the members of each organization, chairs the Student Body Administrative Council, manages the student organization approval process and oversees the Associated Student Body motor pool. 

The Vice President for Student Organizations oversees all USG-recognized student organizations on campus. 

Vice President for Finance 

Four candidates are running for Vice President for Finance. They include sophomores Autumn Gibbons and John Rekucki and juniors Hang Dao and Jimmy Skipton. To read their platforms, click here.

The Vice President for Finance chairs the Finance Committee and allocates money from the student activity fees to student organizations. This position also oversees the USG reserve account and operating budget.

Vice President for Academic Affairs

Junior Stephanie Metherall is running unopposed for Vice President for Academic Affairs. To read her platform, click here.

This position oversees any issue that impacts students within the classroom. The Vice President for Academic Affairs chairs the Academic Affairs Committee, communicates with the presidents of the school governments and works with the Office of Study Abroad and the Office of the Provost.
