Tulane University Police Department Superintendent Jon Barnwell confirmed reports of an off-campus death Friday night. Barnwell said TUPD cannot provide any additional information and that the Division of Student Affairs is involved in the case. 

 

“There was a death off campus last night,” Barnwell said. “I can’t comment as it is a [New Orleans Police Department]-handled case. It appears that there was no foul play.”

 

NOPD Public Information Officer Frank Robertson said he could not confirm the occurrence or details of the case.

 

“We don’t have any traffic fatalities, no deaths or anything in the area,” Robertson said.

 

Purnell Lewis, Louisiana State Coroner’s Association investigator, said he did not have information to share at the time.

 

Student Affairs could not be reached for comment.​
