Joy Theater to host Tegan and Sara on ‘Love You to Death’ Tour

Everything is awesome, because Tegan and Sara are coming to The Joy Theater Saturday Nov. 12.

At this point, Tegan and Sara Quin are an institution in the indie music scene. Their two-decade-spanning career, and genre-bending discography, are sure to hit the stage with the neon-bright energy of their latest album, “Love You to Death”.

The album, and subsequent tour by the same name, are the second installment of Tegan and Sara’s newer, more pop-inspired sound. The album, “Heartthrob”, released in 2013, kicked off the group’s ’80s synth fantasy.

Their chart topping single, “Closer”, set a strong tone for the band moving forward, and with “Love You to Death”, the Quin twins have refined and polished their intoxicating sound. The Joy Theater audience should expect high-energy performance blended with the throwback beats.

Veteran fans should prepare for throwbacks to the albums that established their musical career like “So Jealous”, “The Con” and “Sainthood”. The diversity of sound is guaranteed to take listeners on a journey with the Quins’ deeply personal, and at times emotionally raw, lyrics.

Along with their sonic variety, Tegan and Sara are also known for their sense of humor on stage. Photos have already surfaced of them in ghost costumes, the classic sheet-with-eyeholes getup, to celebrate Halloween while performing “Walking with a Ghost”.

This tour might even include their Oscar-nominated song “Everything is Awesome”, from “The Lego Movie”. It’s just boppy and fun enough to fit in with the boppy, yet sad music from their last two albums.

Fans new and old have plenty to look forward to at this show. Even casual fans will feel at home amongst their high-energy and diverse set list.
