Dean announces changes to course registration due to uncertainty of fall semester

Newcomb-Tulane College Dean Lee Skinner announced there will be changes to the course registration policy to manage the high volume of students who will be registering for classes this fall. Students will be allowed to register for a maximum of 16 credit hours during priority registration and can add up to another three credit hours beginning May 1.

The announcement came as uncertainty looms over fall study abroad programs due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and priority course registration beginning April 15.

Students who need to take more than 19 credits should contact their advisors and read the overload policy in the course catalog. Students are also allowed to join the waitlist for up to three classes. Every class besides TIDES and co-requisites, courses that students have to take in conjunction with another class, will have a waitlist to allow the registrar and Newcomb-Tulane College to gauge interest in certain courses.

We’re making this change for registration for Fall 2020 due to the enormous uncertainty we’re all still facing,” Skinner wrote in the email. “We are making sure that every student is able to register for a full load of Tulane classes for fall.”
