Since they were children, countless students have wanted to find a path to the glamorous world of fame, film and fortune. Career Wave will host “Tulane to Hollywood,” an information session at 12:15 p.m. Friday in the Qatar Ballroom of the Lavin-Bernick Center to provide insight into the process of joining the industry.

“Tulane to Hollywood” will feature Tulane alumni who work in the movie business. Attendees will get to hear about the trials and tribulations in obtaining success in an incredibly competitive industry.

Among the many speakers presenting at this event is Doug Ellin, creative and executive producer of the highly acclaimed HBO show “Entourage.” Joining him will be Jack Sussman, executive vice president of specials, music and live events for CBS, Entertainment Litigator for Greenberg Traurig Matt Rosengart, Senior Music Agent at William Morris Endeavor Brad Goodman, CEO of Focus Features Peter Schlessel, and President and Founder of Superb Entertainment, Meryl Poster.

Poster has worked behind several Academy Award-winning films such as “Good Will Hunting.”

“Tulane to Hollywood” demonstrates Career Wave’s diversity on a campus that, itself, has been featured in several TV shows and movies. Since these alumni have a variety of jobs from a variety of majors, the event also proves that different concentrations can still lead to the entertainment holy land of Hollywood.

“Based on increased student interest in the entertainment industry, we chose Tulane alumni and parents, both this and last year, who represent different areas of the industry and can speak to their respective roles, careers and companies,” Byron Kantrow, director of Career Wave Programming, said

Sophomore Jacob Magasanik, who will attend the event for the second time, discussed the tricks of the trade that these speakers can convey to those who one day hope to walk a similar path.

“Last year they had some really interesting conversations,” Magasanik said. “A lot of these people are really influential in their fields.”

This event, while free to students, requires an RSVP, on Career Wave’s event page, due to limited seating.
