Bo Burnham will perform at 8 p.m. on March 8 at the Civic Theatre as part of his Make Happy Tour.

Bo Burnham originally achieved recognition from his YouTube videos before signing with Comedy Central Records. Burnham was also featured at the age of 18 in a half-hour “Comedy Central Presents” special, making him the youngest person to be a part of the program. He is a budding celebrity of many talents including singing-songwriting, poetry and stand-up comedy. Since joining Comedy Central Records, he has released an EP, a DVD, a book of poetry called “Egghead: Or, You Can’t Survive on Ideas Alone” and two comedy specials. His most recent comedy special titled “what.” can be seen on Netflix and is incredibly clever, garnering tons of laughs, whether they be uncomfortable or not.

Burnham has a stage persona that he mentions in his performances to be different from his actual personality. His comedy is known for its outlandish strangeness, musical integration and satire of sensitive topics such as religion, sex and race. His sets usually contain politically incorrect slants and poetic eloquence discussing subjects that are rarely presented in such form.

The Make Happy Tour will be his fifth tour and will undoubtedly be a hilarious and witty show, or as the tour’s slogan reads, “A night of laughing and smiling and not dying yet”.
