Two killed during Muses shooting on 1300 block of St. Charles Avenue

Two men were shot during the Krewe of Muses parade at approximately 10 p.m Thursday on the 1300 block of St. Charles Avenue. One officer reported hearing multiple gunshots while working alongside the parade route.

According to New Orleans Police Department, the two men were given emergency medical care and transported to a nearby hospital. One of the men, a 21-year old, died later Thursday night after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The second victim was identified as a 22-year-old man and is currently in critical condition suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

NOPD sectored off the area and the parade continued uninterrupted. An unknown man was observed fleeing the scene and was quickly apprehended. Police recovered a weapon at the scene.

The investigation is currently ongoing and police have yet to release the identity of the victims.
