Tulane baseball released its 2014-15 inaugural American Athletic Conference schedule Tuesday.

The Green Wave will play 30 home games at Turchin Stadium. It will compete against 32 games against programs ranked in the top 100, including 17 teams that made NCAA Regional appearances during the 2013-14 season.

Baseball head coach David Pierce said the team will have many opportunities to play high caliber squads.

“Our non-conference and conference schedules are balanced with very [high] quality teams,” Pierce said. “We have a lot of quality in this schedule, and I think our players and our fans should be very excited about it.”

Tulane opens its season with a series against 2014 NCAA Super Regional participant Pepperdine Feb. 13-15 in Malibu, California. The Green Wave will also play talented teams in its non-conference schedule such as Creighton, Gonzaga and Xavier.

The Wave will face new AAC foes like South Florida, Cincinnati, Memphis Houston, UCF and ECU this season. Tulane and Southern Miss will play each other for the first time since 1989 in another non-conference matchup March 11 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and then again April 14 at Turchin Stadium.

“We [play] a lot of teams that were the best teams in Conference USA that are now in The American,” Pierce said. “Moving into [the AAC] this schedule is very conducive to a great [rating percentage index] schedule.”

The annual Alumni Game will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 7, prior to the start of the Wave’s 53-game 2014-15 schedule.
