What’s a major city without a music festival? If you’re a music lover, chances are you’ve heard of New Orleans’ famous Voodoo Festival, a three-day experience filled with all the things New Orleans does best: music, art and food.

If you haven’t heard of it, let The Hullabaloo fill you in.

Voodoo Music and Arts Experience is a 20-year-old music festival native to New Orleans. It runs during Halloween weekend, Oct. 26-28, with the gates opening at noon each day. The festival is held on City Park’s Festival Grounds, a 15-minute drive from Tulane’s campus. The New Orleans Museum of Art is a great reference point to direct you to the activities.

The festival’s headliners include Mumford and Sons, Childish Gambino and Arctic Monkeys, in addition to other artists such as 21 Savage, Hippie Sabotage, The Revivalists, Ty Dolla $ign, Odesza and more.

You’re going to get hungry after racing around to catch all of your favorite performers, so Voodoo is sure to include food for everyone to enjoy. Featuring the best traditional dishes New Orleans culture has to offer, there will also be vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and Eat Fit options. If your mouth waters at the mention of Blue Oak BBQ, Bonafried, Crêpes À La Cart, Dat Dog or Reginelli’s, you’re in luck. A full list of the “Forked Up Food Court” vendors are available on Voodoo’s website.

And lastly, a New Orleans festival is nothing without art. Voodoo’s Marketplace has something for every shopper. Swing by Coco Loco, Global Scents, Blank Ink Art and more during the festival to find something with which to commemorate your experience.
