Following their 2018-19 regular season that ended with a 13-3 record, the New Orleans Saints are having another phenomenal season through week 11 in spite of injury and two losses. 

The Saints’ kicked off their season against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. After trailing 14-3 at halftime, the Saints came back to win 30-28 thanks to a 58-yard field goal by Wil Lutz. 

The Saints then traveled west to face the Los Angeles Rams in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the first matchup between the two teams since the infamous no-call pass interference in the 2019 NFC Championship Game. The Saints’ season looked to be in jeopardy when Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees suffered a torn ligament in his throwing thumb following a hit by Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald. The Saints ended up losing to the Rams 27-9.

In only Drew Brees’ second missed game in his 14 seasons with the Saints and first since injuring his rotator cuff against the Buccaneers in 2015, backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater led the Saints to a 33-27 victory over the Seahawks in Seattle. 

In week four, the Saints returned to the Dome to face the Dallas Cowboys for Sunday Night Football. The Saints narrowly defeated the Cowboys by a final score of 12-10. 

In their first divisional game of the season, the Saints defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-24 in the Dome thanks to Teddy Bridgewater’s 314 passing yards along with four touchdowns. 

The Saints then embarked on a two-game road trip, defeating both the Jaguars 13-6 in Jacksonville, and the Bears 36-25 in Chicago. In his five starts while Brees was out, Bridgewater averaged a 103.68 quarterback rating, 241 passing yards and a 70.14% completion percentage. 

In Brees’ first game back since being injured in LA, he threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns to defeat the Arizona Cardinals 31-9 in the Superdome. 

Following their bye in week 9, the Saints suffered a crushing 26-9 defeat to the single win Atlanta Falcons in New Orleans. 

After defeating the Buccaneers 34-17 in Tampa Bay this past weekend, the New Orleans Saints’ record improved to 8-2 through the first 10 games of the season. The Saints are also in first place in the NFC South, three victories ahead of the second place team, the Carolina Panthers.

The Saints will face the Panthers this Sunday, followed by their rematch against the Falcons on Thursday Night Football. In Week 14, the Saints will face the 9-1 San Francisco 49ers in a huge matchup, followed by the Colts at home and the Titans and Panthers on the road to wrap-up the regular season.
