A man was shot around 2:00 a.m. Friday morning near the intersection of Burthe and Hillary Streets and later died at the scene, according to TUPD Chief Kirk Bouyelas.

TUPD officers responded to gunshots at the location, which is in a residential area a few blocks from campus. NOPD and EMS also responded to the scene.

The 20-year-old victim sustained gunshot wounds to his torso while sitting in a pickup truck. Before he died, the victim told officers that multiple “tall” white men had shot him before taking off on foot toward Maple Street.

According to Bouyelas, the victim, whose name has not been released, was not affiliated with Tulane.

The case is currently under investigation by the NOPD Homicide Unit.

The Hullabaloo will provide further updates as they become available.
