Tulane’s women’s basketball team has been riding the wave as of late, winning seven of its last eight games, including six intraconference wins. The Green Wave’s success has positioned the team second in the American Athletic Conference (AAC), only behind women’s basketball powerhouse University of Connecticut.

In its last game, on January 25th, the team finished just short of a victory, falling 56-63 to the University of Southern Florida. Despite strong efforts, they fell to the 12-8 Bulls, resulting in their first in-conference loss of the season. 

With the next nine matchups all against AAC teams, the Green Wave has an excellent opportunity to bolster its in-conference record and land a more favorable seeding in the AAC tournament before it begins on March 6th.

Entering her 26th season overseeing Tulane’s women’s basketball team, Head Coach Lisa Stockton clearly has the expertise and roster talent that make a winning formula. The team is led by returning junior Krystal Freeman and University of Louisiana at Monroe transfer Arsula Clark, who are averaging 14.6 and 12.7 points per game, respectively. The duo also leads the team in rebounds, with Freeman recording 7.5 per game and Clark averaging 5.6 per game. 

The team has four more home games this season and is looking for support from their fellow Tulanians in order to secure a bid in the Women’s March Madness tournament. Women’s basketball’s next home game is this Saturday, February 1st against the Houston Cougars. So head down to Fogelman Arena and support our Green Wave!
