Weekend crime report

During Halloween weekend from Oct. 28 to Oct. 30, these crimes were reported to Tulane University Police Department.

Friday, Oct. 28, 2016:

Burglary: 

At 11:26 a.m., Tulane University Police Department responded to a report of an off-campus burglary reported by a Tulane student at the 700 block of Hampson Street.

The student said she left her door unlocked overnight and realized the next morning that her laptop and bicycle were missing. New Orleans Police Department was notified of the incident.

Residential burglary:

At 10:07 p.m., officers responded to an on-campus burglary at Willow C Residence Hall.

The student reported that she left her door closed but unlocked for approximately three hours. Some of the missing property was able to be identified, but camera footage in the surrounding area and a check of pawn shop software was met with negative results.

Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016:

Suspicious persons:

At 12:16 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious individual, possibly suffering from a seizure and requested Emergency Medical Services. The individuals could not explain why they were on the property.

The subject refused further medical services after an initial examination, and a computer search of criminal databases was inconclusive. All three individuals involved were issued restricted presence letters, along with instructions on challenging them.

Harassment:

At 9:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of harassment outside of Irby Hall.

The reporting student stated that she was approached by a group of unknown men while walking up the stairs. She did not know any of the men and camera footage was inconclusive. The student did not wish to press criminal charges.

Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016: 

Hit and Run:

A student reported that his vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle between 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 27 and 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 30 in Diboll Parking Garage.

The responding officer observed a moderate scratch down the driver-side of the vehicle. The officer was unable to locate any possible witnesses or suspects, nor could they locate any valuable security footage. A Louisiana Crash Report was submitted.
