Two Tulane students reported being woken suddenly when a group of men armed with a handgun kicked down their front door and proceeded to steal a laptop, two cellphones and an Xbox.

The students reported that the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday in the 1200 block of Lowerline Street. Tulane University Police Department stated the group consisted of three to four unknown black men without further descriptions.

The men fled in a dark blue or black Nissan Altima towards St. Charles Avenue. The car was reported to have a temporary license. No one was injured during the incident.

Superintendent of TUPD Jon Barnwell said that it should be noted for the burglaries earlier this year suspects were arrested and charged.

“We do plan on continuing our increased patrols,” Barnwell said. “I would note that arrests were made for all of the burglaries that occurred at the start of school. A suspect was also arrested and charged with the robberies as well.”

New Orleans Police Department handled the initial response and will be handling the ongoing investigation.
