A water break under Newcomb Place and Warren House occurred late Tuesday night, resulting in Facilities Services and Campus Development shutting off the water service to Warren House and Caroline Richardson Building at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

In an email to the Tulane community, Kelly Venable Carroll, assistant vice president for Facilities Management and Campus Development, said facilities was working with the City of New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board to fix the issue.

“We recognize this is the second shutoff in two weeks which will cause inconveniences, however this major failure in a city water line requires urgent attention,””Carroll said.

Restrooms, sinks, kitchens and showers will not be usable in affected buildings while the water line is shut off. Additionally, parking and traffic along Newcomb Place will be affected.

“[Tulane] acted very slowly in all aspects of the situation and the lack of communication is not fair,” Warren House resident Schuler Ravencraft said.

The shutdown is expected to last until 3:30 p.m.
