Carjacking on Calhoun Street under investigation
A student reported that an unknown man threatened her while she was sitting in the backseat of a car in her friend’s driveway. The student exited the vehicle, leaving her personal belongings, and the man fled the scene in the vehicle.
The carjacking occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday on the 2800 block of Calhoun St.
The student notified New Orleans Police Department on the night of the incident and Tulane University Police Department on Monday.
The student described the subject as a black male with a light complexion in his 20s between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot. The student said the subject had a short beard and was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
The investigation is ongoing. According to the crime alert sent to students by TUPD Monday, anyone with information about these crimes can call TUPD at 504-865-5381 or call NOPD at 504-821-2222.
