Editor-in-Chief Election

The first round of the 2024 election for Editor-in-Chief of The Tulane Hullabaloo will begin at noon on April 7, 2024. Location TBD. 

Important Dates:

  • March 22, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. — Editor-in-Chief information session on Zoom
  • March 31, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. — Editor-in-Chief intent to run forms due to Personnel Director and Media Adviser
  • April 1, 2024 — Candidates will be publicly announced
  • April  5, 2024  at 6:00 p.m. — Platforms and PowerPoint presentations must be submitted to the Personnel Director
  • April 6, 2024  at 12:00 p.m. — In-person platform presentations and Q&A sessions, followed by the first round of the election
  • April 6, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. — First round voting closes
  • April 7, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. — Runoff election begins (if necessary)
  • April 7, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. — Runoff voting closes (if necessary)
  • The winner will be publicly announced 48 hours after the conclusion of the election.

Candidates:

How to Run:

Any currently enrolled, full-time student at Tulane University who is in good standing, who will be a full-time student in the year they serve and who is not studying abroad in either the upcoming fall or spring semester may apply to become Editor-in-Chief.

  • Candidates will announce their intention to run by completing an intent to run form certifying they meet the qualifications to run and will abide by the rules of the election process on the deadline established by the election schedule.
  • Candidates will turn in a platform of no more than 10 pages describing their qualifications for the position and ideas for The Hullabaloo to the PD on the deadline established by the election schedule.
  • Candidates must also submit a maximum 250-word paragraph summarizing their campaign to be published on The Hullabaloo’s website.
  • Candidates must submit a PowerPoint to use during their platform presentation to the PD on the deadline established by the election schedule.
  • The PowerPoint must be sent to the PD as a downloaded file and must not be shared with anyone until the day of platform presentations.
  • The PowerPoint must not be modified in any way after it has been submitted.
