Editor-in-Chief Election

The first round of the 2023 election for Editor-in-Chief of The Tulane Hullabaloo will begin at noon on March 25, 2023 in room 108 of Joseph Merrick Jones Memorial Hall. 

Important Dates:

  • March 13, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. — Editor-in-Chief information session in The Hullabaloo office (LBC G06)
  • March 15, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. — Editor-in-Chief information session in the Student Organization Center
  • March 17, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. — Editor-in-Chief intent to run forms due to Personnel Director and Media Adviser
  • March 18, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. — Candidates will be publicly announced
  • March 22, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. — Platforms and PowerPoint presentations must be submitted to the Personnel Director
  • March 25, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. — In-person platform presentations and Q&A sessions, followed by the first round of the election in Joseph Merrick Jones Memorial Hall (Room 108)
  • March 25, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. — First round voting closes
  • March 26, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. — Runoff election begins (if necessary)
  • March 26, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. — Runoff voting closes (if necessary)
  • The winner will be publicly announced 48 hours after the conclusion of the election.

How to Run:

Any currently enrolled, full-time student at Tulane University who is in good standing, who will be a full-time student in the year they serve and who is not studying abroad in either the upcoming fall or spring semester may apply to become Editor-in-Chief.

  • Candidates will announce their intention to run by completing an intent to run form certifying they meet the qualifications to run and will abide by the rules of the election process no later than two weeks prior to the election.
  • Candidates will turn in a platform of no more than 10 pages describing their qualifications for the position and ideas for The Hullabaloo to the PD no later than one week prior to the election.
  • Candidates must also submit a maximum 250-word paragraph summarizing their campaign to be published on The Hullabaloo’s website.
  • Candidates must submit a PowerPoint to use during their platform presentation to the PD no later than one week prior to the election.
  • The PowerPoint must be sent to the PD as a downloaded file and must not be shared with anyone until the day of platform presentations.
  • The PowerPoint must not be modified in any way after it has been submitted.
