Fans of indie-rock around New Orleans are excited to welcome Angel Olsen to the city for the first time.

Olsen, who is noteworthy for her unique voice and masterful blend of indie-rock with dream pop and folk styles, is currently promoting her third full-length album, “My Woman.” Along with opener and fellow indie-rock singer Chris Cohen, Olsen will be performing at 8 p.m. Feb. 4, at Republic NOLA.

After getting her start touring as a backup for prolific post-punk folk singer Will Oldham, best known under the stage name Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Olsen branched out on her own. Her inspiration comes from a wide breadth of genres, including Christian rock and spoken word poetry. Though she covers a vast array of genres, Olsen’s music evokes Girlpool, Frankie Cosmos and even Stevie Nicks.

“My Woman,” was released last September and is her most upbeat album yet. Tying in glam rock and pop, Olsen addresses her “plurality of voices” to bring to life her experience of womanhood. The album has received widespread acclaim, especially regarding the second and third singles from the album, “Shut Up Kiss Me” and “Sister.”

Concertgoers will expect to hear these new classics, as well as older hits like “Hi-Five,” “Burn Your Fire For No Witness” and “Half Way Home.” Olsen’s flexible style is likely to appeal to any and all fans of indie rock.
