Weekend Crime Report: October 13-15
Bicycle Theft and Recovery:
Tulane University Police Department officers responded to reporting person’s location in reference to a stolen bicycle with a TUPD permit tag at 1:36 p.m. Friday.
The bicycle had been taken from the Phelps Hall bicycle rack. Upon being contacted by TUPD, the victim stated that he was unaware his bicycle had been taken since he had placed it on the rack the evening before.
The bicycle was returned to the victim, and a Maxient Report was completed.
Downtown Campus Fight:
A TUPD officer approached the scene of a fight at 5:40 p.m. Friday behind Deming Dorm at the downtown campus.
As the officer approached the scene, all subjects fled the area except for one who appeared to be carrying a pistol.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and apprehended the remaining subject after a foot chase. The officers found on the subject a fully-loaded semi-automatic pistol, a small bag containing what was suspected to be cocaine and a bottle of Xanax pills.
Camera footage showed that the incident started as a drug transaction outside of the dorm.
The New Orleans Police Department was requested to the scene and took over the investigation. A TUPD Use of Force report and incident report were submitted.
