Mardi Gras mapped out
February 28, 2019
Mardi Gras is one of the best times of the year in New Orleans, but it can also be incredibly confusing. Whether it’s your first Mardi Gras in the city or you’re a seasoned senior, check out this map of the Uptown parade route to help you plan your day – from bathrooms to burgers.
One of the biggest mistakes students and tourists alike make during Mardi Gras is urinating in public. While might be tempting given the long days and never-ending beverages, one of the most common reasons for arrest is public lewdness, including public urination. Stay safe and make the short trek to one of the bathroom areas marked on the map, or grab a bite to eat from a restaurant and use their bathroom instead.
The long days of Mardi Gras make everyone hungry, and if you didn’t bring snacks in your fanny pack, your best bet is to buy some food on the parade route. For something a little more casual than a sit-down restaurant, check out McDonalds and Rally’s on St. Charles and Louisiana Avenues, respectively. Be prepared for a bit of a wait wherever you go.
