Two Sodexo employees were arrested while on campus yesterday.
Around 8:50 a.m. on Monday, a Sodexo employee was arrested in the Lavin-Bernick Center food court. He was wanted by the New Orleans Police Department for criminal damage to property . The employee had also been issued a Restricted Presence relative to the incident. The arrest took place without incident and the Sodexo employee was transported to the Orleans Parish Prison.
“He was wanted for damaging a person’s automobile tires. The vehicle damage did not occur on campus.” Kirk Bouyelas, Tulane University Police Department chief of police, said.
Last night, Tulane University Police Department officers assisted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of another Sodexo employee with an active warrant out of Jefferson Parish. The employee was located and arrested on the fifth floor of Howard-Tilton Memorial Library around 10:30 p.m. The subject was a material witness in a homicide case and was no longer cooperating with court procedures.
The subject was then transported and booked into the Orleans Parish Prison as a fugitive. The arrest was made without incident, according to Bouyelas.
In addition, former Sodexo employee Taivon Aples was booked by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office today for several outstanding warrants, after being shot and injured by a TUPD officer on Sep. 6.
“This included an arrest warrant obtained by the NOPD Force Investigation Team, who investigated the police action,” Bouyelas said.
