Mexican restaurant Juan’s Flying Burrito will close its Uptown location amidst rising rents on Magazine Street, marking the end of a local staple popular with Tulane University students. 

The closure reflects a common story on streets like Magazine: rising rents shutter small businesses while large companies prosper in their wake. 

The chain will still operate its other New Orleans locations in the Lower Garden District, Mid-City and Central Business District. Their Uptown lease ends May 31. 

The restaurant is searching for a new Uptown location. Restaurant management will give Uptown employees the chance to work at their other locations.
