The Tulane University Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response sent out a message Monday evening warning of freezing and below-freezing temperatures for Tuesday.
New Orleans will experience temperatures in the low 30s throughout the day. Neighboring schools canceled their classes for Tuesday, including NOLA Public Schools, due to extreme cold. Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge also canceled classes. Tulane will continue to operate as normal.
The hard freeze is expected through Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, with temperatures in the low 20s and teens.
Tulane stated in the message that “employees should contact and work with their supervisors if they are unable to get to work, feel unsafe doing so, or if childcare issues are present.”
