Nina Moffa, president of the Tulane Club of Chicago, understands the importance of keeping Tulane University’s alumni connected.
She is a proud Tulanian herself. Moffa studied sociology at Tulane’s Newcomb College and graduated in 2003. In her spare time, she was a part of Tulane’s concert band and bartended at The Boot.
A Philadelphia native, Moffa never saw New Orleans in her long-term plan. “I ended up staying in New Orleans for 14 years,” she said. “I always say my heart is still there. My husband and I just got married there in October.”
During those 14 years after graduating, Moffa worked as an event planner at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel at the Marriott Convention Center downtown. She coordinated large corporate events and worked with visiting sports teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.
In 2010, Moffa left New Orleans for Chicago. Since then, she has found love with both the city and her husband, a Chicago native. When the COVID-19 pandemic brought her career as an event planner to a halt, she got her realtor’s certification and became a full-time real estate broker. Throughout her career, she has been deeply involved in the Tulane alumni network.
After Blue Frog Chocolates and wine drew her to an event at the alumni house on Tulane’s campus, Moffa regularly attended alumni events in New Orleans and Chicago. “There’s so many resources that people just don’t even take advantage of to connect,” she said.
“Alumni really want to hear from current students on what’s going on and what you guys are most excited about,” Moffa said.
