Taylor Swift is set to take the stage in New Orleans on Oct. 25, 26 and 27 as part of her Era’s Tour. New Orleanians are preparing for her arrival, which will bring tourists and an influx of traffic to local businesses.
Swift’s tour began about 18 months ago. Since then, the cities where Swift performed have all benefited from major boosts in revenue. In American consumer spending alone, the tour is projected to generate nearly $5 billion.
As Swift’s New Orleans concert dates get closer, local companies look forward to increased business.
Sweet Olive Salon owner and stylist Andrea Hoover said she expects an increase in sales from fans hoping to get their hair styled prior to the concert.
“I welcome the extra business,” said Hoover. “I think our city is going to be so full and fun that weekend.”
Similarly, Angelique Palumbo, owner of NOLA’s Angelique Boutique, said she has had customers come in solely to get fitted for the event.
“We have sold lots of sparkly dresses,” said Palumbo. “We have also sold cowboy boots, which are definitely the favorite.”
Swift’s concert is also being promoted across the city, namely at New Orleans’ famous Skeleton House, a mansion on St. Charles Avenue hat displays dressed-up skeletons during October, depicting iconic figures with punny descriptions.
The mansion’s theme this year is “The scERAS Tour,” showcasing multiple skeletons dressed in Swift’s various concert outfits. The house draws attention from excited locals and tourists alike.
