Over the weekend, three separate shootings at the French Quarter Festival and the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival left eight people injured.
At least four people were shot on Sunday night in the French Quarter on the final day of the French Quarter Festival.
The festival lasted until 8 p.m. on Sunday night, with the shooting occurring just after the festival concluded around 8:25 p.m. The incident occurred on the intersection of Iberville and Decatur. All victims are in stable condition, and one suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting.
There were also two shootings Saturday night around the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival that left three wounded. The shootings are being investigated as unrelated cases, according to local authorities. All victims are expected to make a full recovery. No arrests have been made in connection with the shootings.
The first shooting took place around 9:25 p.m., with the second shooting occurring just five minutes later. Both the French Quarter Festival and the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival are open to the public and see hundreds of thousands of attendees each year, with many of them being Tulane University students.
