Tulane contracted Sodexo worker killed in Pine Village shooting
At 11:23 p.m. Tuesday, New Orleans Police Department officers responded to a shooting on the 7100 block of West Laverne Street. The Orleans Parish coroner identified one of the victims as Tiffany Thomas.
Thomas, 25, worked as a contracted worker at Tulane through Sodexo. She is survived by two children, ages 5 and 8.
According to NOPD, Thomas was shot several times and died as a result of her injuries.
“The Tulane University community is shocked and saddened by the death of Tiffany Thomas, who was beloved by many Tulane students, faculty and staff,” President Michael Fitts said. “Our hearts and prayers go out to Tiffany’s family, friends and the many Tulanians who mourn her passing.”
A second victim, 34, was rushed to a local hospital after the incident due to gunshot wounds. Her condition is currently unknown, and her name has not been released.
The NOPD investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Update: According to Nola.com, NOPD apprehended Leo Dorsey, age 25, at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday and charged him with Thomas’s murder. Dorsey was arrested outside the Golden Wok restaurant at 914 Canal St. after NOPD officers received a tip that he was there.
