Pickles grand opening brines and dines students
September 20, 2015
Pickles’ grand opening on Monday in the Lavin-Bernick Center food court cemented the restaurant as the new “big dill” on campus, to quote the shirts that were given away.
The deli features New York-style sandwiches, an array of cold cuts and sides, and its famous chips and pickles. Tulane’s new LBC restaurant offers a wide variety of selections, and it seems like faculty and students alike are more than thrilled to have the new food court option.
The grand opening featured various samples of its most popular sandwiches, such as the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Beef. Those who wanted to pay for a full sandwich, however, waited behind the other 30 or so students who also wanted more than just a free sample.
The event had a giveaway table where guests were invited to try their luck in winning prizes such as free sandwiches, Pickles merchandise and school supplies.
“I’m really into it,” sophomore Lisa Chupp said. “I like the New York theme, given the fact that I’m from the Northeast myself and it’s nice that we have a place to get a good deli sandwich on campus.” Her favorite selections are the Statue of Liberty and the Wall Street Whatever.
Pickles is a perfect addition to the LBC food court. The sandwich prices are about average for a standard LBC meal. The Arcade highly recommends trying out this new place in lieu of that Bruff Commons swipe.
