Student falsely reports robbery to obtain excuse for missing work
December 2, 2014
A Tulane student falsely reported a robbery Friday on the 1900 block of Calhoun Street in an attempt to obtain a police report to explain his absence from work, the Tulane University Police Department daily activity report states.
The student reported he was attacked and robbed by three black men, who stole his wallet, cash and cell phone. After an additional interview with officers and the discovery of Facebook posts on the student’s profile, the student revealed he had woken up with minor injuries and was unable to find his wallet or phone. He said he had not been on Calhoun Street, but had instead been drinking at a downtown bar.
The student declined medical attention for his injuries.
