Senior wide receiver and punt returner Devin Boutte has reportedly asked to leave the program for unspecified reasons, according to The New Orleans Advocate. Tulane Athletics, however, said Boutte is still a member of the team.

Boutte has not practiced for the Green Wave this week in preparation for the Sept. 6 home opener against Georgia Tech.

Boutte returned two kickoffs for a combined 42 yards in Tulane’s 38-31 loss Aug. 28 against Tulsa. Boutte led the team with 14 kick returns for yards 272, 23 punt returns for 94 yards and ranked fifth with 396 all-purpose yards last season.

Freshmen Teddy Veal is expected to return kicks Saturday. Veal returned one kick for 17 yards against Tulsa.
