With the fall half of the year done, Tulane’s Women’s Golf team is playing well.  The team has competed in five tournaments, placing from 15th to sixth.

The first tournament of the season was the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational. This two-day play saw Tulane finishing at the end of day one in 10th and eighth at the end of day two. Freshman Hanna Liu had a particularly good first tournament, scoring nine over 225, and placing 27th in the tournament.

Next, Tulane traveled to Tennessee for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Tournament. After another two days, the team finished ninth. Both junior Jennifer Rosenberg and freshman Carlota Palacios set an impressive record tying in 25th place with six over 219.

Tulane competed in its third tournament, the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, at the University of Kentucky. This was the team’s first three-day tournament. The team finished in ninth on day one, seventh on day two and sixth on the final day. Once again, Carlota Palacios had an outstanding tournament, placing second overall.

The team then traveled to the University of North Carolina to play in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Here the team faltered, placing in 15th.

In the final tournament of the fall, the Green Wave played at the University of Houston’s Sands Bahamas Invitational in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Though the team placed 13th, senior Haydyn Gibson played well in 34th with five over 221.

This year’s roster includes freshmen Hanna Liu, Carlota Palacios, Sandra Vazquez, sophomore Isabella Cardenas, junior Jennifer Rosenberg, and Seniors Gabrielle Correia, Haydyn Gibson.  The team is led by head coach Stew Burke. This is Burke’s first year as Head Coach at Tulane.

“Overall, we did well as a group and there are a lot of positives to build upon as we move into the spring season,” Burke said.

The spring season begins on Feb. 16.
