Weekend crime report: Nov. 11 to Nov. 13

These crimes were reported to Tulane University Police Department between Nov. 11, 2016 and Nov. 13, 2016.

Theft:

A TUPD officer met with a student who said her wallet was taken in Howard-Tilton Memorial Library.

The student left her wallet unattended on a table at the library on Nov. 11. Upon returning to the table, she realized her wallet was gone.

There were no cameras in the area to aid officers in their investigation.

Residence burglary:

Officers responded to a student’s reported that his home had been broken into around 5 p.m. on Nov. 11.

The student said upon returning home he noticed several windows pushed open and that the contents of the home looked like they had been rifled through. The student’s neighbors said to TUPD that they saw two unknown subjects leaving the residence at about the same time the student arrived home.

New Orleans Police Department was notified of the incident.

Simple battery:

An officer was dispatched to speak with a student at Aron Residence regarding a fight that occurred earlier in The Boot Bar around 3:45 a.m. on Nov. 13.

The first student involved said that the second student suspect punched him inside the bar for no reason. The first student changed his statement several times.

The second student said that the first student pushed him at the bar, which is why he punched him in the face.

Officers observed that the first student had a small cut on his tongue, a scrape on his right ear and minor swelling near his right temple. The first student refused medical treatment.

Officers notified NOPD, but neither suspect was arrested due to conflicting stories.

Battery:

An altercation broke out at The Boot Bar involving two students. An official Tulane no contact order was issued to both students through the Office of Student Affairs.

The altercation occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 12.

Bicycle theft:

At 7:47 p.m. on Nov. 13, a staff member reported to TUPD that their unsecured bicycle was stolen from their home on the 700 block of Willow Street.

Officers searched the area for possible suspects or witnesses but were unsuccessful.

NOPD was informed of the incident.
