Renovations of the Reily Student Recreation Center natatorium and social pool are underway and expected to be completed within this calendar year.

For now, construction continues at Reily.

The new and improved natatorium will be equipped with “a new pool deck, new steps and ledges for ease of entry, and the integration of Tulane brand colors throughout,” according to Associate Director of Facilities Steven Leitch. Additionally, the formerly concrete pool flooring will be replaced with a new Myrtha liner system and stainless steel panels which will be laminated with waterproof coating.

A new, moveable fiberglass Stark bulkhead — the structure that separates a pool into sections — will allow multiple activities to occur in the pool at once.

Leitch said the renovation will also improve systematic aspects of the pool, like new humidity controls, lighting and water filtration equipment.

The social pool will also feature upgrades, including pool resurfacing, a new waterproofing system, tile work and depth markers and light fixtures.
