New football student ticket system will begin next week

All students will receive an email on Monday at 6 p.m. with a link to request a ticket to the next football home game on Sept. 23 against Nicholls State University, according to an email sent by Tulane Athletics on Friday.

Tickets will be served on a “first come, first served basis” until the 4,000 free tickets are claimed.

Links to assigned tickets will be sent on Thursday via email, the email said. Those who did not receive a ticket will also be notified then.

Students who receive a digital ticket but do not use it at the game will “lose your opportunity to claim a ticket for future games,” the email said, “so only claim a ticket if you plan to attend.”

But exceptions to that rule could exist for rare cases, like if a student claims a ticket then gets ill or tests positive for COVID-19, the school said.

“In those extreme circumstances we would ask students to contact the ticket office in advance to note they cannot use their ticket due to illness, etc.,” Tulane spokesperson Mike Strecker said Friday.

Additionally, student guest tickets with seating in the student section will not be available for the remainder of the season.

The announcement of the system signals a new era for Tulane Football, which just two years ago struggled to convince students to attend games past halftime, if at all. It comes after the huge demand for the Ole Miss game last Saturday overwhelmed entrances for ticket holders. Crowds also packed Brown Field after the student section filled an hour ahead of kickoff.

In its first announcement earlier this week, Tulane said the ticket system would reduce congestion around the stadium.

Now, students will receive the ticket request form on the Monday of each home game week.
