The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans issued a boil water advisory Feb. 1 for parts of Uptown, including Calhoun Street through Louisiana Avenue, due to a water main break at Octavia Street and Claiborne Avenue.
Tulane University sent an announcement Thursday afternoon that it is monitoring the situation and will send updates promptly.
The SWBNO advises that residents living in impacted areas should not consume tap water, boil water safely and should be careful when bathing.
According to the SWBNO, these boil water advisories typically last at least 24 hours.
The affected areas include:
- South Claiborne Avenue from Calhoun Street to Toledano Street
- Toledano Street from S. Claiborne to Tchoupitoulas Street
- Tchoupitoulas from Toledano to Exposition Boulevard
- Exposition Blvd from Tchoupitoulas to St. Charles Avenue
- St. Charles Avenue from Exposition Blvd. to Calhoun Street
- Calhoun Street from St. Charles Avenue to South Claiborne Street
