Tulane University’s head women’s basketball coach, Lisa Stockton, announced her retirement on Tuesday, ending her 30-year coaching career.
Stockton, known as the all-time winningest women’s basketball coach in Louisiana, has led the team through multiple historical triumphs, including nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
In 2022, The Advocate named Stockton one of the 25 most influential women in Louisiana sports history. In 2020, Silver Waves Media honored her as one of the top 100 Most Impactful People in women’s college basketball.
In an Instagram post Tuesday, Stockton highlighted her proudest accomplishment as “our 100% graduation rate for our student-athletes who finished their eligibility in our program.” Each four-year student under Stockton’s leadership has completed their degree.
In July, Stockton was inducted into the Conference USA Hall of Fame as the first women’s basketball head coach to be part of the program.
Tulane has started a national search for a new head coach with assistance from Collegiate Sports Associates, assistant athletic director Jason Corriher wrote in an article for Crescent City Sports.
“My heart will always be with Tulane. I will see you in the stands!” Stockton said in the Instagram post.
