Shooting at Republic NOLA leaves one dead, 11 injured

A mass shooting outside Republic NOLA, a nightclub in the Warehouse District, left one dead and 11 injured on Sunday night.

Republic is a popular venue for Tulane University’s Greek life social events.

The New Orleans Police Department found a woman fatally shot on the sidewalk. The victim’s mother identified the woman as 24-year-old Jezreel Aquilla Poleate.

Five adult males and six adult females were injured in the shooting, according to police.

An Atlanta rapper hosted an event called Church On Sundaze that evening, a traveling party night event around multiple New Orleans venues.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of South Peters Street outside of Republic.

Gov. Jeff Landry posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, “This type of violence has no place in our State.”

The shooting is currently under investigation by NOPD.
