“Natural gas is affordable, reliable, and clean energy,” is Gov. Jeff Landry’s newest proclamation.
The governor released the proclamation on Oct. 16, giving 23 justifications, including the economic and geopolitical benefits of natural gas, its carbon emissions compared to fossil fuels and that “the Biden Administration has overstepped and abused its authority” regarding energy regulations.
The Biden administration enacted several policies to promote renewable energy and decrease the country’s reliance on fossil fuels and natural gas, such as the Inflation Reduction Act.
The proclamation ended with five orders, including: “Louisiana opposes efforts to limit, delay, or ban the approval of new and existing liquefied natural gas export facilities in Louisiana and across our Nation.”
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, while natural gas is cleaner than other fossil fuels, it still contains a heavy amount of carbon emissions.
The Consumer Energy Alliance celebrated the proclamation.
