Two students reported for arson, issued summons
November 3, 2016
At approximately 10:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, Student Affairs Professional on call informed Tulane University Police Department that two students set a piece of paper on fire in Butler Hall, slid it under a door and ran away.
Officers reported that the incident caused no structural damage to the building, nor did the incident cause any threat to life.
The room’s occupant put out the fire so there was no need to call the fire department. The occupant refused medical services.
Following an investigation TUPD identified two student suspects, each of which gave conflicting statements regarding what happened. Both students were issued a summons for student code violations.
