A student reported an armed robbery occurring around 2:35 a.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of Broadway Street.

The student said he was walking when a man approached him, asking for a lighter. The students said the man pulled a pistol and asked for his belongings, which totaled three dollars in cash and two debit cards.

The man fled, and reportedly stopped in front of two other Tulane students who were sitting in the front porch of their home located in the 1900 block of Broadway Street.

The man again asked for a lighter and produced a pistol, asking for their belongings. After getting a cell phone, the man was last seen fleeing towards South Claiborne Avenue.

According to Tulane University Police Department, the suspect is described as a black male with shoulder length dreadlocks. He is reportedly in his early twenties with a slim build last seen wearing a black track suit and baseball hat.

When asked for comment, TUPD Superintendent Jon Barnwell referred to the New Orleans Police Department, which is currently handling the investigation.
