Emerging band to be TAUK of the town

Keala Rusher, Staff Reporter

In the age of revolutionary new music, TAUK is among the great bands creating new and innovative sounds. Guitarist Matt Jalbert, bassist Charlie Dolan, keyboardist/organist Alric “A.C.” Carter and drummer Isaac Teel hail from Oyster Bay, New York and describe their genre as heavy instrumental rock fusion.

This unique style of music is evident in its most recent album “Headroom,” which experiments with song length and an edgy fusion of classic rock, funk, hip hop and more. TAUK has no lead singer, though the group still manages to make the album incredibly expressive — and at five to eight minutes, each song is like a mini-mix in itself.

Though its website is interestingly blocked by campus Wi-Fi, taukband.com features all the information a “stauker” could need to follow the band’s progress both in the studio and on tour. The website for its merch features tees, tanks, hats, beanies, lighters, stickers and the newly-vintage medium of CDs.

TAUK has been touring the Southern United States recently and has some exciting upcoming prospects including a gig at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and tons of festivals including, but not limited to, the Summer Camp Music Festival in Illinois, the Wild Woods Music and Arts Festival in New Hampshire and the Disc Jam Music Festival in New York.

The active group has released full albums yearly since 2012 that are available on Soundcloud, Spotify, iTunes and GooglePlay. Be sure to check TAUK out and don’t miss out on its concert Thursday at Joy Theater. TAUK’s newest album can be listened to through Spotify below:
