Tulane University Campus Programming announced Aug. 4 that the First Wave Concert will be the Ying Yang Twins with Mr. Collipark at 8 p.m. Aug. 22 on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad.

The Ying Yang twins, a rap duo from Atlanta, first gained mainstream popularity in 2003. The group’s biggest hits include “Whistle While You Twerk” and the tracks they made in collaboration with Lil Jon, “Salt Shaker” and “Get Low.” The Ying Yang Twins have a particular fandom in New Orleans. Their song “Halftime (Stand Up and Get Crunk)” was unofficially adopted by the New Orleans’ Saints as their anthem during the season leading up to their Super Bowl victory in 2009.

Mr. Collipark, also known as Michael Crooms, is a hip-hop producer based in Atlanta who is known as a significant influence in the success of the Ying Yang Twins. He has also been nominated for a Grammy for his work with Soulja Boy in 2008.

The First Wave Concert is TUCP’s first event of the 2015-16 year.
