Tulane will face tough opponents during the 2015 football season, including six teams that made an appearance in a bowl game last season. The Athletics Department announced the Wave’s schedule Feb. 4.

The Wave opens its season against Duke Sept. 3 at Yulman Stadium. The team will also play against Maine, 2014-15 American Athletic Conference co-champion Central Florida, Tulsa, Houston, and Connecticut at home. Tulane will compete for the first time ever against Maine, which plays in the Football Championship Subdivision, at Yulman Sept. 19.

Tulane will face Georgia Tech, Army, Temple, SMU, Navy and 2014-15 AAC co-champion Memphis on the road.

“I think we’re going to do absolutely outstanding again this year,” head coach Curtis Johnson said.

The 2015-16 season will mark the first that the AAC has two divisions, West and East.

Tulane will be a member of the American Athletic Conference West Division alongside Houston, Memphis, Navy, SMU and Tulsa. The East Division is comprised of UCF, Cincinnati, UConn, East Carolina, USF and Temple.

The winners of each division will meet in the first AAC Football Championship Game, which will be played at the home stadium of one of the division winners.

The six teams Tulane is lined up to play that made bowl game appearances are Georgia Tech, Duke, UCF, Houston, Navy and Memphis.

Dates for Tulane’s conference games will be announced by the AAC early next month.
