We’re both excited about the prospect of obtaining this coveted throw, but we haven’t decided who will keep the shoe. I’m not sure I’m ready for even a well-decorated shoe to break up our friendship. First, consider the possibility that neither of you will get a shoe this year. There are many festivalgoers each season who eagerly flaunt their Mardi Gras flair at Muses, only to go home without shoes, sometimes even their own. In the event you are successful, however, think about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Your friend and you can switch off weeks proudly displaying the shoe in your room. You may find yourself in a situation where you need to impress a guest, in which case you can entertain them with a far-fetched story on acquiring the prized possession. Alternatively, you can use the shoe to create your own version of “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” In the future, when you’re both out of college, you can send the shoe to each other, either daily or weekly, as a reminder of your shared Mardi Gras memories.
