Comedian Maya Rudolph named 2015 commencement speaker

Comedian and actress Maya Rudolph will give the keynote address at Tulane University’s 2015 Commencement, President Michael Fitts announced in an email Friday. 

Rudolph first rose to fame as a cast-member on “Saturday Night Live.” She has also appeared in films such as “Bridesmaids,” “Away We Go” and “Inherent Vice.”  

Rudolph has strong connections to Tulane. Her father, Richard Rudolph, is a Tulane alumnus. Richard Rudolph, a musician, producer and songwriter, also plans to be in attendance. Maya Rudolph’s cousin, Sabrina Rudolph, is a member of Tulane’s 2015 graduating class. 

Commencement occurs 9 a.m. on May 16 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The 2015 commencement will also be the first of Fitts’ presidency.
