As the dreaded midterm season sneaks up on students across campus, you may be looking to switch up your typical study spots. Arcade is here to help, with a list of our favorite local coffee shops, perfect for all of your studying needs.

Located on Oak Street, this small coffee shop is ideal for essay writing and midterm studying. With delicious coffee and specialty drinks, such as the Bad Wolf or Ruby Slipper, and tasty pastries to pair them with, Z’otz is the perfect place to get to work. Plus, if you’re looking for a unique environment, Z’otz surely will not disappoint. Added bonus: Z’otz is open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. every day of the week.  

Rue De La Course

Rue De La Course is a coffee shop located in a former bank on Oak Street, offering a truly one-of-a-kind studying experience. The beautiful building is topped off by good coffee and food items for all. Rue De La Course is open every day until 11 p.m. and is a good choice if you have a lot of reading to get done during midterm season.

Mojo Coffee House

Mojo is located on the beloved Freret Street, and is a hotspot for studying year round. Mojo offers coffee, food and some of the best fresh lemonade around. Tables are a hot commodity at Mojo, so if you plan on studying there, be sure to show up early. Don’t fret —  Mojo is also open until 11 p.m. for any night owls.

Rook Cafe

Freret Street’s Rook Cafe is a study spot close to the hearts of many. The staff at Rook is welcoming, and the affordable and delicious drinks and treats make it the perfect spot for students to spend their time studying. Rook is open until 11 p.m. every night, ideal for long-winded study sessions. 

Piccola Gelateria

If you’re looking to really switch it up this midterm season, Piccola Gelateria offers homemade gelato and espresso beverages, along with a cozy atmosphere. Piccola Gelateria is very accommodating to your study needs, and the owners are pleasant to chat with during your study breaks. Located on Freret Street, this shop is easy to access and worth the walk.
