TUPD apprehends sexual assault suspect

Tulane University Police Department has apprehended a Tulane freshman, identified as Efrain Eskenazi Bettis, in connection to an attempted sexual assault of a female resident of Warren House. The crime occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 22.
According to TUPD, Eskenazi, who has been taken into custody and faces felony charges, was also a resident of Warren House. Eskenazi entered the female student’s dorm room, climbed on top of her and exposed himself. He then entered two more rooms, but no additional person was assaulted at that time.
Eskenazi was described in an earlier email as a male around five feet, seven inches in height with short dark curly hair and brown eyes. Tulane officials said that Eskenazi will not be permitted on campus while the investigation is ongoing.
