On Dec. 2, the mother of Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Robin D. Pittman, Carol Charles, was shot and “critically wounded” in New Orleans East.

The shooting occurred on Babylon Street in Pines Village around 6:30 p.m. The judge’s mother was reportedly in her vehicle when she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout. She was brought to Universal Medical Center following the shooting in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery later that evening.

Judge Pittman was elected to the bench in 2008 and currently serves as a judge in Section F of Criminal District Court. Judge Pittman serves as the court’s Deputy Chief Judge.
