The report alleged that Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity intended to haze pledges later that evening. In Louisiana, hazing is a felony with a potential five-year prison sentence and $10,000 fine. In the United States, a hazing death has occurred every year since 1959, with the exception of 2020.
